Punch scrap, wrongly positioned parts, or loosened die or transfer elements can quickly lead to damage or even breakage of die elements. The result: high costs, unplanned downtimes, and, in the worst case scenario, supply shortages or contract penalties. The solution: Visual Die Protection.
The camera-based Visual Die Protection (VDP) system detects critical situations and allows the press to be stopped before the dies are applied, thereby avoiding damage completely. In this way, dies can be protected during production, risks minimized, and costs saved.

Visual Die Protection is a versatile and open system. It can not only be used in transfer presses, press lines, or for progressive dies, it is also suitable for plastic processing or assembly lines. The system can be integrated within 24 hours, is manufacturer-independent, and is not limited to metal forming technology.
Up to eight monitoring functions per die allow for individually tailored system responses for each application. The system detects foreign objects such as screws or blanking scrap in the die and checks whether parts are correctly inserted, formed, and removed. It also monitors critical areas such as centering or ejector pins with increased precision.
Setting up the monitoring function takes no time at all thanks to the intuitive user guidance. The data can be saved and retrieved again after changing back to the die. An automatic product data change together with the press is also possible. Furthermore, our experts are continuously further developing the system in close collaboration with our customers.
