The 1,500-ton press at Meleghy Automotive, referred to as the “old girl” by employees, was built in 1968. Meleghy Automotive recognized a number of age-related issues (e.g., teeth broken from the pinion shaft and cracks in the crown and press uprights), but the automotive supplier was not ready to retire its press system. Schuler Service was ready to help with a complete modernization solution.
